Activity Directors like their residents to be involved with activities that are tactile, cognitive and use sensory stimulation. Bubble blowing fits the bill as a fun boredom buster activity.
THE BUBBLE and BUBBLE BLOWING WAND PROJECT
I will be visiting 100 residents during the month of May and thought that A JAR OF BUBBLES wrapped in some form that celebrates Spring, the month of May or a Mother’s Day theme would be a nice “party” favor to give to each resident. Just as you often see wedding favors tied with a bow, I thought that perhaps there is a group that would like to “adopt” this project.
In total, I need 100 tiny containers of bubbles tied with a pretty bow or ribbon. With the bubble wand inside the container. I think the best place to buy the little plastic containers of bubbles is at the Dollar Store, AC MOORE. Michael’s Craft store, or Party Store. They have the very tiny containers of bubbles that people sometimes use to blow bubbles after a wedding.
Linda just called to say that she looked on A C Moore online and you can print out discount coupons of 50% or she said in the newspaper, you can ofter find the 40 % coupon. For a package of 24 little bottles of bubbles, it is $6.60 but with the discount coupon, it is about half of that. She is going to make 48 for the project. She plans to put a little sticker on the bottle – stickers that she will get at the Dollar Store or at the craft store.
Another idea is to tie a small ribbon around the top of it. Or print a pretty label with a Mother’s Day or inspirational message and affix to the bottle of bubbles. The Dollar Store used to sell the 12 pack of bubbles for a dollar. This might be a popular time for them so might be sold out there.
I googled BUBBLES FOR WEDDING FAVORS and found this link. I certainly don’t want you to purchase anything from the site, just thought that the picture of a container of bubbles tied with a pretty pink bow looks like – might be an idea generator.
I would like to have the bubbles ready to go by the end of April or earlier if possible.
If you would like to have your group volunteer to do any part of this project, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you very much.
