Today was ROCK A BYE BABY DAY. I talked about a lot of memories of babies. I had a little yellow baby bathrobe, made out of that Turkish towel material. It was so tiny and cute with a little duck on the front. I pretended that I was picking a little baby out of the tub.
What would you say if you were taking a little baby out of the tub right now, and wrapping him in this little robe?
- Oh, you are so sweet!
- You are my little cutie-pie.
- I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
Then I gave everybody the words to the song BEAUTIFUL BOY. John Lennon wrote it for his baby boy Sean. I like Celine Dion’s version with pictures of her holding her son. We said the words a couple of times and then I showed the video. It was beautiful to see a group of primarily memory impaired people sing a chorus of the words BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL BOY.
Then one woman said, “Why don’t they say BEAUTIFUL GIRL?”
So we changed the words slightly and sang again. Everyone was holding their stuffed animals in their arms as if they were precious babies. We had such a wonderful time!
Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He’s on the run and your daddy’s here,
Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It’s getting better and better,
Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we’ll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it’s a long way to go,
But in the meantime,
Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,
And then, we all closed our eyes and listened to the beautiful instrumental of Brahms LULLABYE AND GOODNIGHT.
And how about this one? Doesn’t this song make you want to sit in a rocking chair and snuggle with a baby?
